Udhampur (JandK), Jan 11 (ANI): Far flung areas in the country are usually left bereft of infrastructural facilities like water supply, electricity etc. One such region is Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur. The region where majority of the houses were bereft of electrification are now seeing the light of the day. After Central Government's Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana was introduced in this region, 23,000 houses were covered under it and now the whole region is getting electricity supply. This has benefitted especially students who were earlier unable to study during dark hours. Ravinder Kumar, Deputy Commissioner said, "There were 23,000 houses which were not electrified but after the government's Saubhagya Yojana these houses were covered under the scheme and got electrified. And now Udhampur is 100 percent electrified. To electrify these houses, generators and solar lights are used."
